Jay Roberson

Jay Roberson is an experienced counselor who works predominately with couples, men, and adolescent boys.

The majority of Jay’s practice focuses in three major areas: relationship growth, life transitions, and grief and loss issues. He works with men who feel worthless, hopeless, and angry about their lives. He also works to mend the marriages that can be disrupted due to these experiences. Additionally, Jay counsels adolescent boys having trouble emotionally handling their parents’ divorce, life changes, and social stressors – including bullying. These areas are explored by integrating mental health therapy and Christian-centered counseling for all seeking to change and heal.

He has practiced since 2008 after earning his Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Counseling at Reformed Theological Seminary in Jackson, MS. He has advanced training in marital therapy from Drs. John and Julia Gottman. After leaving RTS, he served children, adolescents, and their families in Community Mental Health in Yazoo City, MS.

Jay has since counseled in Jackson in Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs under both clinic and psychiatric hospital settings. Under the hospital setting, Jay advanced into the role of Outpatient Services Director, aiding the growth and healing of patients with mental illness. In 2014, he began private counseling and became a Board Qualified Supervisor (LPC-S) for Licensed Professional Counselors.

Jay is a Jackson native and enjoys camping, woodworking, genealogy, investing, and quality time with his wife, their three boys and three girls playing together, having epic dance parties, and exploring God's creation.

Jay Roberson Counseling, LLC is an affiliate of Watershed Counseling Associates. Jay Roberson Counseling, LLC is the custodian of all of Jay Roberson’s client records, including demographic, billing, and insurance information as well progress notes. Jay Roberson Counseling, LLC is an independent entity that shares physical space with Watershed Counseling Associates and contracts the services of Watershed's Client Care Coordinator.
